A sub-limit is a smaller maximum within a policy's overall benefit or sum insured for a particular expense, item, event, or section. It can apply to room charges, valuables, debris removal, or other specified benefits. Exhausting a sub-limit does not necessarily exhaust the whole policy.

A Nepalese health insurance customer with a high annual limit may still face restricted payment for a particular treatment or hospital room. Similarly, a property policy can limit certain contents. Check whether the sub-limit applies per event, per person, or per period and how it interacts with a deductible or co-payment.
